I’m not a journaler. I’m not good at it, and I feel like I never have enough time to sit down and write thoughtfully about my day. Usually, I prefer to spend my time on other things (like writing blog posts and stories. You know, stuff like that). Maybe you feel the same.
I’d read about the benefits of keeping a journal, and tried off and on to do it, but it never stuck. Then I stumbled across the concept of Bullet Journaling. I’ll be honest—at first this concept intimidated me. It looked overwhelmingly complicated, and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to keep up with it. But I decided to give it a shot, and so far, I’m loving it—and I’ll tell you why.

We’re quick to form a picture of what makes someone “creative”. We put lables on people who live creative lifestyles; sometimes positive, sometimes negative, and then we limit ourselves to believing they are the only ones capable of living that way. I don’t know about you, but I’m a perfectionist. I’ll often spend more time analyzing my work than I do actually working. (Oh hey, I’m doing it right now with these opening sentences. What a great start.)
If you’re a perfectionist, don’t feel bad. You have great qualities, such as diligence, loyalty, and a desire for excellence. We need people like you and I in this world, but as perfectionists, we’ve got to learn how to manage our gifts, lest they become a hindrance.

When I was in high school, I focused all my spare energy on writing novels. I wrote and wrote and wrote; hundreds of thousands of words. And at first it was easy. But there came a time, shortly after I graduated when I stopped writing almost altogether. It was like the spark of passion I’d had had gone out.
